Description Join us on this incredible woodland wildlife photography workshop in Slovenia
On this wildlife photography workshop we will be visiting purpose built photography hides in the Notranjska region of Slovenia which as it holds one of the world’s richest densities of brown bears, offers the best opportunity to photograph Brown Bears in Europe and in June we are hoping to see mothers with cubs. The hides have been tailored to the needs of photographers, with locations carefully selected for light availability and positioned so we can get our lenses roughly at eye level with the bears.
In addition to the bear hides, we will be spending mornings in a woodland water-station hide, a bird photography spot nestled just a short distance from the enchanting forest, not far from our accommodation. This comfortable hide. with a reflex glass window and soundproofing, to ensure the birds remain unaware of our presence, is positioned at eye-level with the water of a carefully crafted pool, providing captivating close-up shots and revealing intricate details of the birds’ beauty and behavior. Amongst the wildlife we might see at this hide is Green Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Wryneck, Green Sandpiper, Crossbill, Hawfinch, Jay, Various garden birds, Red Squirrels, Hedgehog, etc.
At night we will have the opportunity to watch and photograph Badgers, Foxes, Martens and other nocturnal wildlife from the night hide.

Anybody! An understanding of the basics will be useful but any tuition is tailored to the individual so this course is suitable for photographers of all levels - anyone looking to improve their landscape photography and enjoy a photography trip and a few laughs, with a small group of like-minded people.

On my workshops, every detail is taken care of from the transport, delicious food, comfortable private rooms to the stunning locations so you can relax and concentrate on enjoying the photography.
The workshop fee covers:

3 x afternoon brown bear hide sessions
2 x night time hide sessions (badgers, foxes & pine martens)

This workshop is based around Easy Jet flights from London Gatwick to Ljubljana, I will confirm the recommend ones and the meeting details closer to the time.

The deposit is £250, payable on booking then I will email a final invoice due 6 weeks before the date of the workshop.

Yes. There will be an image review session via Zoom which is not only an opportunity to receive critique on your work but to see and discuss the photos that others have taken during the trip. I’ll record this session for anyone who can’t make it.

We will be staying at Mlakar’s Guest House, nestled in the village of Markovec within the verdant Karst region of Loška Dolina, a serene retreat surrounded by untouched forests.

No. All rooms are private double rooms with ensuite bathroom.

During the workshop all transport is provided, you just have to get yourself to Slovenia and back.
